Mom is always right

I have officially figured out something else to add to the “makes Sarah hurt somehow” pile.

My mom used to tell me that I couldn’t use tampons because they would give me a migraine, and so I didn’t start using them unless I was swimming or it was an emergency. While on the Mirena, I didn’t have a period and so I didn’t have to make the decision. Since being back on a birth control pill, things have changed.

For the first four months of my period’s return I used Always pads. Thin, with wings, dri-weave, all that good stuff. Last month I decided that I wanted to move on to using tampons all the time. Today, I have decided that is not going to work. I have had a migraine, or the beginnings of one each day that I use a tampon. I don’t so much mind wearing pads (thin, wings, work really well) but sometimes I feel like a teenager still using ‘em.

Tampons give me migraines. My mama was right. Damnit.

Tampons make me feel like crap too. I’ve heard of a thing called a Diva cup. I’ve never used it but have heard good things about it. I’ve not warmed up to the idea, personally yet…but you could check it out?

shuddup! i’ve never heard that and i’ve used them religiously…
i use(d) what ashley’s talking about…totally awesome, dude. so convenient and such. BUT, messy and takes practice. i’m wondering if my migraines that ’seemed’ to be cured by isobel were in fact tampax-related!

Well, I never would have guessed *that* was an option. Good thing your mom knew!

I would have never thought tampons would give you a headache (or migraine), how weird! (I do believe you, I just can’t see how the two would be connected, but they must be somehow.) I have been using them since I turned 18 or so, before that I only used pads too because I found tampons gross. I still only use tampons with an applicator though.
